i'm going to kuala lumpur in a week or so; i've read dozens of malaysian food blogs, but pretty much nothing else. any suggestions? i'll be there for five days.

I don't know specific places, but can highly recommend my favourite Malaysian breakfasts: Nasi Lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk, served with an assortment of side dishes) and Bak Kut Teh (a M'sian Chinese pork rib soup spiced with star anise and lots of pepper).

mmmmm. nasi lemak, i haven't had that in too long a time. i always confuse bak kut teh with a punjabi mc song....

Wow- I'm so jealous! I've been researching Kuala Lumpur for the past 5 weeks for a tourism class I'm taking for school! Have a blast; there is so much to see and do there!!! I can't wait to see photos and hear about your trip!

Santos:
There is a nice food court right across the street from the Empress Hotel in KL.
The best time to go there is during (early) lunch.
You will enjoy the taste, the smell and the colors.
Lastly, if you like tailored clothes, KL is the place to be.

malaysia is mostly a combination of malay indian and chinese. roti (canai/prata), nasi
and yes, malaysian bakuteh is different from tht of singapore
